Honorary Freeman Vic Cope
We were all privileged to have known and been in the company of our Honorary Freeman, Vic Cope.
Despite not enjoying good health recently Vic continued to promote and demonstrate the importance of personal interaction and understanding, between Mawsleys residents.
Vic had two terms as a Parish Councillor and was responsible, with his colleagues, for many projects within our Parish.
Perhaps the largest project was the construction of the memorial on our Village Green, complete with flagpole, which is now flying at half mast as a tribute to our much missed Village personality. The memorial also gives the chance for Villagers to commemorate their own loved ones and important family pets.Vic was instrumental in the forming of Mawsley Amateur Dramatics, The Village Choir and the Bowls Club and was a much loved Santa.Vic was a great supporter and ambassador for all Village activities and he knew that we all have a duty to strive to help all ages, to feel a sense of place in the place that we call home.
We will all miss his "can do" attitude and we must take inspiration for the future, from his example.
Our Sincere sympathy to Doreen and the family,
Richard Barnwell, Chairman Mawsley Parish Council
