Precept

The Precept is the element of your Council Tax that is paid to Mawsley Parish Council.

Every year, the Parish Council draws up a budget and calculates how much money it needs for the next Financial Year. This is then submitted to North Northants Council. ( NNC)

At the meeting of the parish council on 18th December 2023 the council set the budget for the forthcoming financial year 2024-2025. It was agreed to approve a budget of £119,894.00 which would be funded by the councils reserve funds and a precept of £70,000. The parish council are pleased to let our residents know that this is a reduction in the annual precept of 23%.

Budget

During the months of November and December the Parish Council discuss and agree the budget for the coming financial year, the financial year runs from April 1st to March 31st.

The budget is agreed in the December or January meeting and the precept is then agreed by January. The council have to agree how much of the budget is financed by the precept and how much is financed by other means, such as reserve funds.
